Riposte X adidas Originals SL ‘72

The adidas SL has its roots in the cultural activism of the 1970s. Launched in a decade when people came together to campaign for a more equal society, the shoe is intrinsically linked to people who want to make real change. To mark the re-release of the SL silhouette Riposte cast a selection of cultural change makers – mixing those who are active today with people that were involved in cultural change making in the 70s.

ONLINE EDITORIAL

For the project we worked with artist/bio-designer Daisy Ginsberg, writer Nathalie Olah, artist Joy Yamusangie, Ruby Savage and Josephine Chime of In Flames and original club kid Scarlett Cannon. We commissioned Sirui Ma to shoot portraits and photographed each person in the new SL silhouette’s, styling them in accompanying looks that referenced the 70s whilst staying true to their own identity.

Each shoot was accompanied by an interview (available here) where we explored the work of each person, the issues they speak and act on and where they see real change coming from over the next decade. All interviews and imagery went live across the Riposte site.

AMPLIFICATION

All content captured was amplified across the social channels of Riposte and the people we cast.
